Development Associate

This position reports to the Development Director and is responsible for cultivation of individual donors and Planned Giving Program.  Support with Team Builds and grant writing.


· Cultivates new and existing individual donors
· Coordinates with Director of Development and Volunteer & Events Director on strategies to turn volunteers into donors
· Responsible for Planned giving Program
· Direct Annual Appeals
· Ensure timely stewardship and recognition to donors
· Coordinates all Habitat Young Professionals governance
· Liaison to Habitat Young Professionals Board and all volunteer committees with HYP
· Cultivates new Habitat Young Professionals
· Solicit sponsorship opportunities
· Coordinates volunteer activities and events together with Volunteer & Events Director
· Team Building and grant writing support as needed
· Submit weekly development report


· Must represent Habitat favorably in the community, develop and maintain good relationships with partners and volunteers.
· Possess at least A.A degree and two year – five years progressively responsible experience in fund raising,
· Capital campaign experience
· Proficient in public speaking and able to express ideas verbally and in writing.
· Excellent writing skills, including experience in successful annual appeals and proposal writing. Strong proofreading and editing skills.
· Ability to plan, organize and handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
· Must be able to communicate clearly and courteously, verbally and in writing with strong organizational and interpersonal skills.
· Be detail oriented and able to work with little supervision and in cooperation with a variety of volunteers and staff members.
· Must have the ability to organize, prioritize work, meet critical deadlines, and be flexible
· Must be competent in computer skills such as Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Raiser’s Edge.
· Relationship-building is a key component of this position

Hours & Compensation
Salary is commensurate with experience. Regular working hours, some evenings and Saturday’s as needed.  Some work outside normal business hours is expected. Benefits include health benefits, dental, vision, STD, LTD, Life Insurance, 403B retirement plan, PTO and paid holidays.
