Chi Chi Truong: Project Engineer & Partnerships Chair

David “Chi Chi” Truong works as a project engineer at a civil consulting firm in Pompano Beach and is the owner and president of DCT Designs, a freelance web and media arts design company. Prior to that, he was a junior engineer for leading MEP Healthcare Design firms in the Midwest, and then a district manager for a start-up General Contracting company in Miami.

Chi Chi is very active in USGBC-South Florida Chapter, serving as a chair for the Chapter’s Emerging Professionals and volunteering for many networking and promotional events as well as the President for the Miami Branch. He also serves as a National Chair for the USGBC Students program helping to promote sustainable lifestyles beginning at the college level. David Truong’s other extra-curricular involvement includes being an active member of other professional organizations like the New Leaders Council, American Society of Civil Engineers – Younger Members Group, Urban Land Institute – Young Leaders, American Institute of Architects – Young Architects Forum, the Committee on the Environment (AIA-COTE), Net Impact South Florida, and the Tropical Audubon Society.

Chi Chi attended Purdue University where he earned his Bachelor of Science in Civil and Structural Engineering with minors in economics, French, and psychology and a Certificate in entrepreneurship and innovation. During college, he served as ambassadors for several schools and organizations, was a leader on the rowing and triathlon teams, and officer for Chi Epsilon—the civil engineering honorary fraternity. David also helped design disaster-resilient homes in Haiti, built a green affordable home in Reynolds, IN (BioTown) for Habitat for Humanity, and founded a philanthropic group on campus known as Dance Marathon raising over $1 million for Children’s Miracle Network and Riley Hospital for Children since its inception.

On the weekends, you can often find him enjoying one of the many beautiful beaches of South Florida or embarking on his next road trip with friends.
