SUMMARY:Orange Bowl Committee Orange Bowl Impact and Excellence Awards
DESCRIPTION:The Orange Bowl Committee (OBC) is excited to announce its annual Orange Bowl Impact and Excellence (O.B.I.E.s) Awards presented by Blue Cross and Blue Shield’s Florida Blue and supported by Publix Super Markets.    Over the years\, the Orange Bowl Committee has been able to give millions of dollars back to the South Florida Community through its economic impact\, support of events\, organizations and causes along with its support of intercollegiate athletics and higher education.  This event is one of many ways we are able to continue to give back and support the South Florida Community.    Last year\, through this event\, we were able to provide $90\,000 in donations to three (3) worthy organizations and $15\,000 in scholarships to deserving high school seniors.    This year Jason Taylor\, former All-Pro Miami Dolphins defensive end\, will be awarded\, the Orange Bowl Keith Tribble Impact Award. This prestigious award is presented annually to a groundbreaker that has helped open doors\, inspires by actions\, sees beyond the obstacles put before them and made a significant impact in the South Florida community.    The OBC will also present the following three O.B.I.E. Awards which celebrate a commitment to the community\, amateur sports and displays of courage. Orange Bowl Community Service Excellence Award\, 100 Black Men of South Florida\, Inc. \, Orange Bowl Amateur Sports Leadership Award\, Marcia Pinder\, Head Girls Basketball Coach\, Dillard High School\, and a youth participate of the Orange Bowl Youth Football Alliance (OBYFA)\, will receive the Orange Bowl Jr. Courage Award!    The event will be held Friday\, May 11\, 2012 at the Broward County Convention Center located in Ft. Lauderdale.  The evening will include a cocktail reception beginning at 6:00 p.m.\, followed by a dinner program at 7:00 p.m.\, culminating with a musical performance by Boyz II Men. DESCRIPTION:Please join for us for The White House Young America Series: Live from Florida Memorial University on April 20th\, 2012 from 12:00PM to 4:00PM at Lou Rawls Center for the Performing Arts.    In conjunction with the Millennium Momentum Foundation and the U.S. Department of Education\, The White House Young America Series are regional series held across the country this spring. They are designed to connect Obama Administration officials with young community\, civic\, non-profit and business leaders to discuss issues critical to young Americans and identify solutions to meet the challenges of the 21st century.    The series will feature an innovative open space dialogue which allows you to work together with other participants to define the agenda and shape the format.    The goals for this series are:     Relationship Building—The series will establish a space where young leaders can meaningfully engage and interact with officials from the Obama Administration on diverse policy areas that affect their community.       Sharing Ideas— Participants will raise policy and programmatic areas of importance. Also\, participants will identify local success stories and practices in policy areas that could benefit other communities across the country.       Working Together—The series will allow participants to connect with each other and Obama Administration officials to share tools and community solutions that can be leveraged to address larger issues.  Participants and Administration officials will work together to identify and develop opportunities for collaboration between the Administration and other leaders from across their community and across the country.       Obama Administration 101— The series will ensure that participants gain a deeper understanding of the Administration’s work\, learn how they can connect with the Federal Government at the local level\, and plan for the work yet to be done.    The forum at Florida Memorial University is one in a multi-city series designed to bridge the President’s vision with the needs of young people by connecting them with the local and national resources and networks they need to meet the challenges of the 21st century.
